hey im new to this club hopefully someone can help!!!

i have an 09 rabbit

when the car is turned on after about 30 sec BOTH cooling fans come on and are VERY loud. the fans run constantly no matter what the temp is outside even during winter. the temp guage reads normal 90.

at the same time this happend the check engine light came on, and also the outside air temp stopped reading and just says -- --...
any one have an idea how to fix this?

got exactly the same trouble.

The vag-com said something about the fan being jammed or restricted.

I have to replace the exterior temp sensor because is was not there anymore. But my dash temperature is not OK, it show 25 C when it's minus 15 outside.

If i erase the code, the fan stop for this time. If ii turn the car off and back on, the fan restart.

Hope someone can help us to find the trouble

for my case, it look like the small started to be shorted sometimes and don't kick in. So the bigger fan jump at super mega speed to do the job of both fan.

The small one is a 150$ job and the big one( has a unit that control the little one) is a 400$ job. Pretty simple to do yourself
