    Re: I need help!

I would suggest you scan it and see what code it throws then go from there.

So I have to go to a garage to scan it?? Is it common for them to come on?

    Re: I need help!

It's fairly common, the light coming on signifies that a fault has been registered in the ecu, scanning will tell you what triggered it, then with that info you can look into the cure.
Depending on your location you can get free scans, failing that get yourself a cheap scanner on ebay.

ebay may be cheaper, you'd need a garage due to being over here and most will charge.

    Re: I need help!

Is the exhaust leaking? Get someone to block the end of the tailpipe while it's running and listen for a hiss.

Start by clearing the codes, then drive it until the light returns.

Oil in the intake can cause the issue, if it's clean you might just need a new front o2 sensor.

Avoid driving with the light on as the catalytic converter can be damaged.

Cars in the garage tomorrow so will hopefully get to the bottom of it. Couldn't hear a leak in the exhaust, need a service anyhow.

^^ that's not a bad price. the genuine sensor kits are nice.

    ebay might have them too.

definitely purchase online. local dealer wanted $260.00 US (+ tax). i found online from a vw dealership in a different state for 160.00 (shipped).

    good luck.
