hey i was just curious as to the maximum safe tire/wheel size on an 84 rabbit.
a buddy of mine totalled his 98 civic and it has 18" wheels with low profile tires, i dont remember the size, but if i recall the total diameter is 24". the wheels are 8" wide. would this fit under my car, and how much wheel well "massaging" would i have to do to gain my full turning radius?
ps. i have factory suspension, no lowering kit
I run a 14 x 6 rim, with 185/60 x 14 tires, like the original GTI fitment. You can easily run a 15 x 6 with 195/50 x 15. Anything larger I have no idea, but you can run a tire size comparison check at tirerack.com . You won't be able to go too large because of the 4 bolt pattern.

I have 15X7 and 195/50r15 and 13X7 with 215/50r13 with no problems larger than 15s give you problems with the fenders or braking power. If you have a really powerful engine you can use 17" but I wouldn't recomend it
what is the overall diameter between 13 and 15 rims that you have. brand of tires?
