4 speed to 5 speed transmission conversion

I have a 1984 rabbit diesel with a 4 speed transmission. I want to convert it over to a 5 speed which I have. I did not get any shifter linkages with the tranny. From researching on the internet I found that there is a difference in the shifting components. Can anyone tell me what will work off the 4 speed and what else I would need for the conversion.

You will need the shift selector gate thingy, the shift relay ball, and the actual linkage rods. I've everything but the relay ball. I can it all to you for $50. Let me know. That or go to a junk yard and find a MkI GTi and rape it

it is bolt in.. the only difference is the long dogbone not the one with the pins.... the 5 speed is angled differently and you need the transmission side mount.... thats it....

I am doing the very thing with an '80 Diesel. I got a complete 5speed conversion kit from Parts Place for $75.00 bucks. Their number is 888 432-3548.

I use a gas tranny from an 02 Golf....

an ACN has a TALL 5th gear.....slow from 45-65mph but beyond that is great for
highway cruising with 185/80/r13 tires gives great economy @ 70-75mph

slow from the roll if youare always in a hurry....other wise CRUISE
