Red light on driver's door staying on

    hey folks

need a little tech advise here......pretty sure I've seen someone post that this has happened in the past

    here's the deal

    car is locked
I use the key fob to unlock the door(S)
the red light on the driver's door (where the lock pin would normally be) stays on....no flashing....just stays on

    I can get in....start the car....drive etc....light stays on

I get out and lock the doors with the key fob....light goes out

the condition is not consistent....aka it doesn't happen everytime....so it appears that if it happens...I can lock the doors with the fob....and then unlock them again and the light stays off

just noticed this happen today twice

anyone know what the problem is....and better yet the fix?

    appreciate the input

I have the exact same problem and I'm guessing many others have it too. I don't know of any fix for this and since it really dosen't affect anything it is probably low on VW's priority list. Maybe Nitroscope8 can help?

When I brought it in for the last oil change I told the dealer about it. They said something like "cannot reproduce at this time" and said everything is fine and sent me on my way

if you got a model with the "parental control" device on the car. which sends a text message to the fone of the "owners" in case of a break in or even when you pass a certain set speed) the light will turn on and stay on. i had it on my car for a while but turned out there was a monthly fee or some crap so it was just disabled. that may be the answer.

FTR it used to send false alarms all the time too. examples were if i locked or unlocked more than twice.
