Problem is that with my Tinnitus, the sound (at the high frequency) that I am hearing combines with the sound that the Tinnitus causes (combining and amplifying it to the point that it becomes annoying). Sounds crazy but apparently this happens to some people.
Not to be disrespectful, and I am sorry about your condition, but I wonder if the frequencies that you hear from the fan may be normal, and only ultra sensitive to you due to Tinnitus?
As a suggestion, ask the dealership if they'd let you take out a new car and see if you hear the same sound. If not, explain this to them.
I also noticed another post you made regarding sounds from the stereo. The CD's spin at a hight rate, and would give off frequencies that only you may be sensitive to.

I like the idea of trying out a different car. Might give it a try.
Lastly, the playing of CD's makes no difference. This sound is present even when the radio and fan are turned off. This is why i'm leaning towards the fan making the noise (heard that even when it is turned off, it stillruns).
Welcome to my world
Firstly, I pulled the fuse on the radio (15amp) and the noises from behind the radio is gone. (If there isn't a fan in the unit, god knows what was making that noise...no not the CD lol)
Next, I tried driving another Rabbit with the same options (cold weather package, 6 speed auto tiptronic) and well well, the same noises are there (albeit quieter) even after the radio fuse was pulled.
So, there you have it a noise that only bothers (gives a headache) to a limited number of people.
Maybe, I should go back to the dealer and get them to pull the fuse for something like the fuel pump so I can at least find out what is making the noises.
