Im looking at getting an 08 rabbit in a few weeks and was curious as to hooking my iphone up to the car. i know the ipod adapter in the console will work with it, but what about taking calls and such? anything i can get for hands free? thanks.

Most likely, the ipod adapter is only going to integrate with the ipod part of the iphone. I don't think the stereo hookup was designed with the iphone in mind, so you are going to have to figure out a bluetooth solution for taking calls if your iphone is hiding in the center console.

You can get a Parrot system and integrate it into the stock system.....search Crutchfield or some similar electronics house for them.

I believe that somebody tried to hook up an iPhone and it didn't work. the firmware it's an older version or something like that.

i use my iphone in my rabbit. It gives me a message saying this device is not designed for iphone do you want to turn on airplane mode...you select no and it works fine...the phone rings and the music will auto pause for you to answer it, the channel select buttons are the different playlists you have....My only issue is that the track info does not display on the radio...I was told this is normal for all ipods using the VW connector.
If your phone is on "airplane mode" you shouldn't have a signal...the transceiver is OFF, how is it ringing?

It gives you the option to turn on airplane mode, it is not forcing you too. I don't turn it on.
