I just bought a new rabbit several days a go, at the dealership they
were trying to sell me the protection package (extra undercoat,
electronic device rust protection, extra clear coat for paint
protection, fabric protection/treatment, and anti-rust protection by
injecting some protection liquid inside body & doors.
My question is if this necesarry, the reason is because I understand
that VW is good hi-quality car, am I doing the right thing by letting
someone selling some other kind outside of VW product?.
Thanks your comments are appeciated.
Sounds to me like the stealership is trying to make extra money on fools. I had no such offer when I bought my Rabbit.
Interesting...extra clear coat?
Well I think I can say that there are a few of us here not pleased with having less than 5000 miles on it and having a stone chip in the paint just above the "rock-guard" area of the rockers and the bottom of the doors. And I noticed another rock chip just above my left headlight unit...I'm starting to pull back my driving space now to 1-2 tractor trailer leghts between my front end and the person in front of me. Well beyond the 2 second rule.
all that should be factory stuff
Sounds like wallet padding to me. My dealer advised AGAINST any additional undercoating. this is the difference between an honest dealer and yours. Perhaps the cloth protectant might be worth it, but not a dealer prices. I wold just get a can of Scotchgard from Walmart and spray away. And there is no such thing as 'extra' clearcoat. what are they going to do? wet sand the car and apply more, no thanks!!!!
I will call VW-Canada now, just to verify.. wich one is scam or just some company trying to make a living..
Thanks to you all.., more coments are still welcome and much appreciated.
It's just how the Stealership can make more money from car sales, a dealership add on after getting the car into their inventory. It is not a factory applied stuff.
my dealer tried to sell me microscopic numbers for all my body parts on my car... I said " I dont think so...."
It's not a scam... but they are just trying to sell you stuff you don't really need... the products/services have value... it's not detrimental to your car... but you really don't need it.
So, no, not a scam... but feel free to skip it.
