My car has an engine light on and I ran a scanner on it. It told me I had a Small Evap Leak. I've looked at some sites online and they all say that the gas cap is the cause. My gas cap clicks and seals the way its supposed to. I don't have a smoke machine to test it through the Purge Solenoid. Any thoughts on what it might be or how to go about checking it?
I can't think of an easy way for you to check it reliably so go ahead and replace the purge valve. It's easy and cheap and it's super common failure. Large leaks are usually a bad gas cap and sometimes a faulty leak pump. Small leaks are usually mouse bites and purge valves.

so I am a new user, no rude comments please. I am also having the same problem. How do u replace the purge valve. I was going to replace the gas cap and try that because my gas cap light has been coming on and off at times as well so was thinking it was most likely that but if that don't work just wondering how to replace the purge valve
