How to turn off engine management light off??

I have a MK5 Jetta 2.0TDi PD140 and ive just towed my dads car to bleed the diesel fuel system out after changing his fuel filter (which was recommended by a mechanic) during this time, my car seamed to be under strain, which then the engine management light came on? after getting my dads car going, I drove home and there dint seam to be any problems...is there any way I can turn it off with out taking it to a garage?

    Thanks in advance

    Is the MIL still lit?
I would get the ecm scanned to find out the code that caused the MIL to come on. Just because the car seems fine doesn't mean there isn't a problem..better safe than sorry

    thanks for a response,
yeah its still lit, ive bought a VAG scanner to read the fault code and see what it brings up. with abit of luck, its nothing serious!!
just abit annoyed with the mechanic (who is also supposed to be a friend) that told me to tow my dads car, now this problem has come up with mine hes not even offered to plug it in to his scanner.
