We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:
I think you should refine your results or group the engine separately from the rest of the vehicle. The MAIN issue is the engine. It has problems with the water pump leaking, fuel injectors sticking, intake manifold flap failing, and chain tensioner failing. If you Remove that variable then i'm sure your results would be far superior to any other vehicle. This engine is used not just in the tiguan, but also the Audi A3, A5, A4, Q5, GLI, GTI, EOS, B6 Passat, CC, Beetle and they all have the same problems. So because ONE particular engine is having issues doesn't mean the car is crap.
It's the old problem, there's "lies, damn lies and statistics". These figures are as near to meaningless as it's possible to get and should only be consumed with a large coating of salt !!
I need to check how many Tiguans in the sample don't have the 2.0T engine. Since this is the only engine offered in North America, the great majority will have it.
If we could get enough TDIs to post a separate stat for them, I'd gladly do so. Already do this for the Golf and Jetta.
We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:
2012 Tiguan: 89, < 1
2011 Tiguan: 66, < 1
We'll have further updates in May and in August. The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise these will be. Currently nearly all of these are 2.0T gas engines. With enough TDIs we could provide a separate stat for those.

Thank you, once again, everyone who has been helping. Next update in August.

We've updated our reliability stats for the Tiguan to include owner experiences through the end of 2015, about eight months ahead of other sources. In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year--lower is better:

No stat, or a small sample size? Then we especially need more owners involved for that model year.

I use Consumer Reports reliability ratings and starting in 2015, the Tiguans get the highest reliability rating for the first time since their inception in 2009. That's why I targeted that year when I went looking for a pre-owned Tiguan.
These stats are right up there in the usefulness stakes with chocolate teapots, they tell you precisely NOTHING !!!
