2008 Jetta recirculation valve.

Can somebody tell me if the recirculation valve is operated electrically or by vacuuum? My 2008 Jetta recirculation valve does not appear to be working. When you push the switch te indicator light comes on but nothing else happens, you can still smell the outside air and no fan noise increase.

i think it is electronic. there is a button press sequence that resets the valves. press and hold all three ac control buttons until they flash, release. you may hear some movements coming from inside the dash.

if that doesn't help, you may have to take it in or get a look at it with a vag/vcds system...
