Got old windshield out & new coming

I was looking around for a good price for a windshield. Never replaced one before and thought I would give it a try. Found one delivered to my door for $105 tomorrow 0900-1000. I got the old one out but the rubber was so brittle it was in pieces from the out side. The guy told me he could only get it with the top part tinted. Well I didnt know what to say, thats not stock. But bring it on. Im glad there was something missing from the frame...can you guess what it was.

    Good work Rich,

I got the aftermarket tinted windshield and a rubber gasket. my glass guy tried for an hour but couldn't get windshield back on. he ended up using the old gasket. Fortunately my old gasket was still good - somewhat. The only thing is, now I have to stay out of the rain. haha.

let us know if you get everything back on ok. and thanks for the pictures.

Re: Got old windshield out & new coming/ new windshield installed

Got my new windshield installed with new gasket....happy as a pig in dodo. Took about 45 min. He said the gasket was great nice and pliable. So got windshield for $105 delivered & tinted with mirror button attached. New gasket $55. Then he was nice enough to come back today to help me install at no charge. I will give this guy some more business. Had to take out the metal strips under the gasket....for after market gaskets.. Fits nice last a long time.

I don't remember my glass guy removing anything... prolly why he couldn't get the gasket on. Glad you got it working. looks great!

From what he told me...and he has only been doing this for 22 yrs. If you use the factory gasket there is a place built in to gasket for these metal clips to ride. (if you can find one) After market gaskets there is no place...and they never fit right. There are 4 , top, bottom and both sides. The only thing I could see the clips were good for was to hold the vinyl in place if the glue came loose. But when he got done the inside rubber was holding the vinyl anyway.
