Hi All,
My Golf recently failed MOT on the following:
Service Brake efficiency below requirements [3.7.A.9]
Parking Brake efficiency below requirements [3.7.A.10]
I had the guy at the shop adjust the brakes but have now noticed a constant grinding (from the rear wheels) when driving. the parking brake has been adjusted as it now only takes 2-3 clicks before it stops (used to be several more) and the noise becomes even louder when pressing the brake pedal.
I remember a similar noise coming from the brakes when i replaced the shoes (about a year ago) but only when depressing the brakes, not while driving and this disappeared after a few miles.
Assuming that it is something to do with the braking system, what could be causing this sound? is the parking brake too tight and the shoes pressing on the drum? could the brakes just be stuck?
any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
