Look what just came in the mail!

All the way from china (even the VW parts are cheaper over there!) comes the mk6 new style shifter:

I will be taking pictures as I go and plan to write up a DIY on how to convert the rabbit's auto shifter to the DSG one.

Very cool. Too bad is for an Automatic. Do they offer a red stiched for manual?

I'm kinda curious as to what the auto-tranny will do if you put the shifter into manual mode (+/-) or Sport mode (S) as the auto doesn't have those. Wouldn't the positions on the shifter still correspond to the original positions, whether or not they lined up with the new stick?

The website is: http://orientalparts.com/ they have one for the EOS, not sure if it will fit but they are always adding new stuff. They do free shipping worldwide and it took a little over a week to receive mine.

The rabbits auto transmission does have manual mode and sport mode so it's almost a plug and play transition. But some things need to be modified on the rabbits shifter assembly to make the DSG one work as the gear select trigger on the rabbits is on the side instead of the front.

This is the one I have now just black instead of wood grain:

Re: Look what just came in the mail!

Little update....in the process of modifying the plastic shaft that hooks into the trigger-I snapped it off. So I spent the day at the junkyard gathering plastic shafts and modifying them to fix mine. Good news, I got it working! But for how long I do not know, I'm worried that it might break at anytime lol. In the process I took some pictures, but I got pissed after I broke the shaft and completely forgot about taking pictures... Basically I cut off both pieces flat and drilled a small hole in both and JB Welded a metal rod between the two pieces and it appears to be holding thus far. Pictures of finished product will come later.

    Handy tip though:
If you need that plastic hook on the gear selector; the mk4 autos (some, not all the beetles) have the exact same style so they can be cut off and used!
