    84 Rabbit Oil Pressure

    My 84 Rabbit convertible, 1.8L??
Checked my oil level and its fine.
When started, engine cold, oil pressure gauge reads high 5 Bar or so, at both idle speed and when engine up to 3K to 4K rpm.
After engine has been warmed up for a while, like driving for an hour or more on freeway or in traffic, oil pressure when idling goes down to 1 or less Bar, and many times low oil pressure light comes on. Again, checked oil level and its fine. Oil weight is 5W-30.
Anybody know whats going on? I thought multiweight oil got thicker when it is hot?
    Thanks

That is too light weight oil for the engine.
You should be using 20W50 as that is what I run,,, use a good filter, no cheap generics, or FRAM.
