i finally got it to start, it starts only when i spray ether in the air box, and when im pushing down on the throttle, if i let of the throttle to let it idle it just dies. it is dumping a lot of smoke out of the exhaust as well, whats going on with it?!
If your throttle stop has moved that could be one issue, and the injector pump if leaking in the slightest could be another. If you remove the injector lines and polish or sand smooth the inside of the flares, and the external part of the flares both sides insures that you have a leak proof seal. If the nuts on the lines aren't tight that can cause a by-pass.
I would also suspect that your timing needs to be dialed in a wee bit.

Timing ,compression and fuel delivery are the only factors involved so I would start with double checking the timing. pump to cam to crankshaft all important. Then pull the injectors and check the compression. If there is timing and compression it has to be fuel delivery and since your injectors are now out you may want to replace the nozzles or replace them all together.

Start with timing. Next step is fuel delivery. Replace fuel filter. bleed fuel lines. Loosen the connection to injectors and crank the engine to prime. You should have diesel oozing and squirting out of the loose connection. If not, check the pump and the shut-off. If you have good flow to the injectors then check the compression. Your problem is most likely with the pump and fuel flow.
