Hey Rabbit Nation! I just bought a used 2008 Rabbit (my first VW, and first rebuilt title vehicle) so I'm a little nervous, but when I test drove the thing it was calling my name. What a blast to drive. The owner showed me pictures of the damagedone last Sept. that got it totaled, and it looked to be mostly front end, not much past the front grille and radiator. Before i purchased it, I took it to my mechanic, a guy I trust and who's been servicing my GM's for years, and he gave it a going-over to check for frame damage and anything that looked major. He found some codes that popped up, the scary one being the air bag sensors, and the oxegen (?) sensor. Well I used that to get the guy to come down a grand, anticipating I would sink some money into it to get it prepped for a "Long term relationship". After purchasing it Sunday, I took it to my local VW dealer. Today he told me that I would need to replace those sensors, and also under-linings that were missing. So the grand total is going to be just under 2 grand. About a grand more than I was anticipating, but oh well, I'm IN to it now (kind of like getting married), and so I feel like might as well go for it. The car has 41,000 miles on it and I plan on driving it into the ground, as I did with my last car, a 2000 Grand Am GT with 200,2000 miles, that I will pass on to my 17 year old son. Wish me luck!![]()
Welcome to VWOC. Buying a rebuilt title car could always cause issues done the road. But, the 2.5 is a beast, and can pretty much handle anything you throw at it. Hopefully you will have plenty of fun times with the rabbit without any hassle. Hope you didnt pay to much for it as rebuilt cars normally dont have a good resale value. Good luck with it. And again, welcome.

Thanks for the welcome! So far it seems to be a "read only" forum, but oh well
