I have recently bought a mk3 cabrio with the aim of uprating it and fitting a tdi engine which I will then tune - not greedy 150 bhp will do. What I would like to know is which engine is best to start with. To keep it simple I thought I would put in an engine that was originally in a MK3 golf, but does it matter if I go for a 1Z or AHU or AFN if I am going to tune it anyway? Or is it a doable job to go for a PD with a 6 speed box - I know that with this option I need to change the peddle boxto enable drive by wire. etc

any thoughts/ advice?
