Both are highly reccommended. Some prefer the OEM look of the BSH. Both do the same thing. Whichever you can find a better deal on, get.

    Re: Carbonio or BSH CAI?

BSH. If my memory serves me correct '07s have a MAF and their intake is stellar for those with MAFs. It doesn't feel like an afterthought like APR's Carbonio. I had more issues than I could count with their insert. Plus I like BSH as a company much more than APR. If you can never deal with APR, do that. Their customer service people are snobbish and terrible.

When I built an intake for my HE Performance intake manifold BSH were more than happy to sell me their proprietary fittings and provide suggestions for how it should be done.

    Re: Carbonio or BSH CAI?

lol fine my opinion aside, pros and cons:

    Carbonio Pros:
-They look kinda neat. I got one or two complements on mine at shows.
-Very simple install. Did mine after owning my rabbit for a few months with zero previous car experience.
-The bulbous turn has some neat design principles behind it

    Cons:
-APR does not care about the rabbit as a platform. They have done the bare minimum of development and written off the Rabbit as a platform that one should "graduate" from.
-Intakes confuse your MAF. APR designed a small metal ring to fool the MAF. I personally have had and have seen many others have issues with it coming dislodged and throwing codes. I had a nearly constant MIL while I owned my Carbonio.

    BSH pros:
-Single piece design that is "less clampy" looking. Less places to fail and you cant accidentally crush aluminum with the clamp like Carbon Fiber.
-The whole intake is designed to fool the intake using age old tricks. I've never technically owned a BSH but I have never thrown a code using the intake they helped me build and I hear the same about their intake.
-At minimum some of BSH's employees like the rabbit and their people are helpful.

    Cons:
    -Fairly generic looking intake
-I've heard complaints once or twice that initially the wire doesn't reach when you re-position the MAF element. It obviously can be done though. Maybe just a little hassle.

In the end though a pipe is a pipe is a pipe. Any way you go you will probably be happy. I did love my Carbonio for years after all.

    Re: Carbonio or BSH CAI?

Getting 'flashed' typically eliminates the CEL from from an intake. I have the short ram P-Flo from Neuspeed. I like this one because I don't have to take the tire off to get at the filter. And I have that warm fuzzy feeling about it not being able to suck up water.

I've had APRs tune nearly as long as I've had their intake.

Really, i have had the carbonio for maybe 3 years now, and i have never once thrown a code because of it. Its weird how one person can have problems, and another cant. That sucks you had issues with yours. Does your new intake make a nice growl like the carbonio?

    Re: Carbonio or BSH CAI?

Weird. A proper MAF insert instead of just the ring does fix the problem every time though.

Intake growl is a different beast when you get an intake manifold. It does have a real neat noise to it though.

    Re: Carbonio or BSH CAI?

Geting flashed DID NOT get rid of the CEL with my carbono, i had to buy an insert which cost me all of 20 bucks on vortex. Maybe its the fact that i left the insert in when it got flashed? Anyways both are good go with the one you like the most.

Hmm that's strange.I know Apr had an option if you had an intake.maybe you didn't get that flash? what codes did you pull? it may have been an UN related cel... then again before I went turbo,I had the carbonio with zero problems and no flash.then I bought the 20 squared/"sharons03jetta" insert and it was perfectly fine. kept that insert in after Apr chipping.then yanked it after I went c2 stage 2 turbo.never got a cel with any set up.
    I might say though
The carbonio solution is kinda screwy.a ring that creates turbulence and impedes air flow didn't seem to be best for flow. That is why I'd prefer the bsh set up.its cleaner and straight through design is much better imho
