Engine Compatibility or Need new engine please?

New member today, just purchased a 2003 Golf Mk4 for my son.
I hope someone can help please and save me wasting a lot of cash! I require a replacement engine (Code: BCA) for the Golf I bought and I found a nice buy however it's a BCA from a 2005 Golf Mk5 and the seller believes it's doesn't fit the Mk4, I thought the BCA engine was compatible across both models?

If not, can anyone help locating a BCA engine please?

Dunno how much help this will be...

In the U.S. the MK5 was available late 2006. If it is a 2005 it may (should) be the same as the 2003.
