Hey guys i have brought up this question a few times, even took it to the dealer about his issue,
my left fog light doesn't turn on, i get no power, the ECU does reads a fault ONLY when i take out the bulb, put it back in, bulb error code is gone, light still does not turn on...
dealer says there is a "coding" error but don't know what is wrong, that its "strange"
try finding some one with a vag com cable in your area, they may be able to help a lot more than a dealer can.

Turn the wheel all the way to the left. then right. does it turn on when the wheel is turned? Bring it back to dealer if it isn't working. how did they give you the car back without a fix?

Did that and no, still doesn't work, and this is actually the second dealer that gives me no solution, first dealer:
wanted to charge me $110 just to check and see what was wrong with the light, and then i had to pay for the repairs, Service adviser automatically assumed that i had HID lights installed, because he said that other wise this problem NEVER would have had happened, mind you, all of this talk without even touching the vehicle....
second dealer, a bit more professional, at least took the car in without charging me, but came back stating that since i had changed the headlight switch to and euro switch there was "some kind of codding" that was not done properly... and told me that the bulbs where not OEM (which they are), and that i that my interior lights are not OEM either (true, but what does that have to do with my fog lights?) so their solution was for me to take it to "the shop i took it" to get it fixed. (i never took it to any shop) did the install of the euroswitch my self, and fog lights worked with 0 issues for months after I installed the euro switch... so don't know what else to do.

So now the truth comes out. Put your factory switch back in and see if fog lamp works.

i wish i could, but i don't have the original one any more... i would have to buy a new one just to see if this would fix it...
but what is weird, that everything worked without any issues for well over 6 months actually almost a year, and it wasn't till about a month ago light stopped
working... my common sense tells me that if there was a codding issue, conflict, it would not work as soon as i plugged the euro switch on... no?

Correct.... mostly. coding in control units can revert to a factory default if there is a certain malfunction that comes up or a bad module. This is most typical in radios but happens in other modules as well.
Start by putting back a factory switch. Many times euro switches are made in china or not up to the standards of the german suppliers and can fail. I've seen more than a few euro switches fail on the fog lamp circuit. Start with the basics and go from there.

mean while, Would i mess something up, if i just run a separate harness just for that left fog light? (like if i was installing a new fog light kit) directly to the battery, and either, adding a separate switch, or maybe taping in the fog light trigger wire in the light switch? (for signal purposes to activate the separate harness)
Ok so I was able to swap the headlight switch with an OEM made in Germany switch and no, left fog light still doesn't turn on, now what else ?
Checked the wiring at the cecm?
