What can I remove from my 1970 Beetle Now that I dont have to SMOG?

What items can I remove from the motor to add more power now that I do not have to SMOG my 1970 Beetle (1600)?

there's nothing to remove to help but for starters adding a mechanical advance 09 distributor advances the timing more evenly, and its supposed to give you more power at higher revs. You can get a single carb like one off of a 1969-71 bus, or get a single weber to get more air and fuel to your engine.

Instead of an 09 distributor, get a Bosch 019 or 010. Get a good set of headers and a progressive 36/32 Weber. The distributor can be found on Glen Ring's site. The exhaust system and carburetor can be found at most VW parts outlets. I.E. Weber Carbs Direct, C.B performance, Chirco.
