    Re: exhaust question

It's alright.. I mean it sounds like you took off a muffler. kinda raspy on start up and higher rpm's. I had it done for 2 weeks and then couldn't take it anymore so i went and cut all of it off and did a flowmaster cat-back. As far as gaining hp, you won't get anything out of that since you are not flowing up the tubes to let it exhaul better.

    Re: exhaust question

I've been researching and reading a lot on here about people cutting out the suitcase muffler at the back of the car, and from what I heard that sounds much better. I am planning on doing that in a few weeks and throwing some new tips on. From whats been said....and theres a couple threads on this mod.....there is no rasp and sounds basically stock until you really step on the accelerator.

    Re: exhaust question

i mean sure lots of people have done it. (me included) but i guess for me it was raspy. didn't sound like a stock audi tt that's for sure and it wasn't that noticable. one thing i have learned is you have to try it for your self, since what may not sound good for me may sound amazing to you just go for it and try it

    Re: exhaust question

It is a "CAT" Back not a "Car" Back system.
After the CAT you have the Resonator, It suppresses the hammering effect on the exhaust by being a Pneumatic Damper. The Exhaust gas per cycle expand the pipe a bit, the way the resonator works is that is allows a controlled feed back or harmonic dampening of the exhaust tube from the expanding gasses in the pipe. Removing it will make your exhaust sound more "tinny" and louder as in Rice type....
What do Divorces, Great Coffee and Cars all have in common?
They all Start with good GROUNDS.
Replace all of them that you can, 99 percent of flakiness will disappear.

    Re: exhaust question

Thanks briano that help a bit so deff keep the res on the car. Leave stock or get after market one ? I can't afford to get a full catback from awe so I'm looking to make mine own and get kinda the same tone. I been beating my head against the wall looking and researching just cant seem to found what I'm looking for. Does anyone know the specs or muffler/res that awe uses Or even eurojet ? Maybe leave stock res and remove both mufflers and add magnaflow ? This whole exhaust thing twisting my arm lol

Thanks guys for all the help

I removed my resonator and it makes it much louder and a bit more raspy but combine it with a magnaflow muffler and it sounds amazing not ricey.

Find a local muffler shop. Unless your making it into a show car who cares if the exhaust is stainless or not? I purchased a magnaflow muffler from them and said do a cat back with just the muffler, it cost me around 300 bucks. Heres a sound clip:

    Re: exhaust question

highway speeds around 65 its a tad droney but i don't mind it. if you want it to be a bit quiter leave the resonator on. Piece of advice; leave the resonator on and get w/e muffler you want, if it's not loud enough remove the resonator later.
