1999 beetle manual transmission trouble

Alright here is the story. My 1999 NB lost 1st and reverse gears so i left her parked at friends for a while. When i attempted the 20gear miles drive home i lost all gears except 5th before losing e. So now when i move the gear shifter it rotates in a complete circle without catching on any of the gears. I dont even feel the "H" pattern to possibly put it into a gear. I replaced the shift lever carrier as recommended by someone without noticing any difference.

If the shifter cables are still attached then you are going to have to remove the trans and break it open to find out what failed.
