    Need help fast

Wifey managed to lock up her steering wheel now she can't get the key to turn at all. The wheel is locked. Is there anything I can walk her through? 2009 beetle if it helps. They are towing the car home but since it sounds mechanic I doubt a battery pull is going to work.

I think you turn the wheel a little bit in a certain direction and turn the key at the same time. it happened to me on my 07 rabbit and I freaked out. I'm not sure if it's the same but that's my .02

Agreed - Problem solved. Wife called in a panic - Im 40 mins out - we pay our insurance for roadside assistance so the tow truck guy got it wiggled the wheel and wha-la. I knew it was that and Im glad I didn't have to go there for that.

glad it got solved without any other problems when it happened to me, I waited an hour to see if it was a timer thing. tried it again and it didn't work, but realized the steering wheel moves a little and then my key turned. I felt so dumb

Ive had it happen to me a million times - not on the Beetle but various other cars. It's a theft feature. I knew the problem I just couldn't tell her how to fix it other than wiggling the wheel and turning the key to unlock it. Its a catch 22. Her Beetle is a curse to me. I will not modify that thing in any way. We tinted the windows and thats as far as Im going
