Hey I've been looking into buying a 92 GTI mk2 that has been through and engine swap. Also i am living in Canada so it is hard to come by these things, is $3500 a reasonable price? The interior is in good condition and the dash is actually from an mk3
$3,500 seems like an awful lot to me. I'm a bit of a mk2 enthusiast, and I've never paid more than $1,000. For $3,500 I'd expect the car to be in 100% condition, nothing less. Even then it's steep.

There are several additions to the car like leather seats a sports steering wheel and shift, chrome rims and 100k km on the new engine but if the base would only go for 1000 I'm not sure how much that would matter. How is the maintenance cost on these cars? I'm in university and I want to make sure I can afford to keep this car running if I do get it.
They're super easy to work on, and fairly inexpensive as well. That being said, since it has an engine the car didn't originally come with, you might run into some different issues. What kind of motor was swapped into it? For $3,500 you could pick up a mk3 VR6. It would be newer with a decent power base. You have any pics of the mk2?
yeah it says it is a VR6 ill post a photo he sent me of it. I also have no mechanical background so I'm not sure how much simplicity will help me lol. The rest of the photos are on the site http://wwwa.autotrader.ca/a/Volkswag...o/19_4967466_/![]()
Damn, that looks really clean. I always have reservations when dealing with cars that have been so heavily modded though. If I were you I'd talk him down a bit on price. Maybe he'd be willing to take some of the mods with him and that way you get a better deal.

Does anybody have any idea what engine that is and if it would be similar to work as the original
