I'm a first time VW owner. Love the new Passat and feel good about supporting Chatanooga, TN. I know one day the care free maintenance period will end, and it will be up to me to keep the vehicle maintained. Honda showed me everything needed to change an air filter, a cabin pollen filter, etc. With VW it appears I can't even purchase a maintenance manual. Hey, this is America, and we like to do simple maintenance ourselves under the shade tree!
How do I get the engine cover off (the right way)? When can I order a shop manual for the 2012 Passat?
Thanks,

Welcome. Drive the car for 10/15 minutes and let it sit for a few minutes. Then gently with some force pull straight up at each corner of the engine cover. Undo the clamp and it's off. Doing it wrong will break the nipples on the intake manifold or break the cover.
Gonna have to wait a bit on repair information. I have the info because I work for VW but i don't have a way to download any of it![]()
