Oil Light + Oil Pressure Blinking!

Had My Car A While...Diffrent Crazy Stuff Happens...Light On And Off...But The Oil Light Comes On And Will BLink Saying Oil Pressure STop Engine...Ill STop It...Check It...Itll Be Fine...Ill Start It Back Up...No Light....But Its Starting To Happen More Frequent...Whats Wrong With It? When This Happen The Car Sounds Like Its Gonna Cut Off Making Alot Noise ,The Car Is Also Reving Its Rpms While Driving And Sitting Still...If That helps.

No Just When Im Regular Driving - most of the time its after i come off the highway and im go from going 70 to about 45 it will cut on.

If the engine is loud, then you really do have low oil PRESSURE. Stop driving that NOW and have the oil pan removed and inspect the oil pick up tube. You may have a clogged pick up or a faulty oil pump....or worse.

I Wouldnt Say Its Loud Its Jus Sounds Slow...Like It Wants To Cut Off....And The Rpms Go From below 10-30 And Repeats Over And Over

/Details aside, I highly recommend you do not drive it and bring it to someone who knows EXACTLY what they are doing and knows these engines.

well i drove the car today to work....no light...no rpm fluxuation....nothing....i dunno ... could it be a sensor or somthing? possibly clogged oil pump thouse are things i have been told by others? i jus wanna know a bit before i take it to a shop and spend alot of $$

You might cause more expensive problems if you keep driving the car without getting the issue diagnosed. The dealer will be able to scan the codes that caused the MIL and determine what is the problem.

when you see this flashing light and engine behavior is occurring, does it ever sound like the engine is running hard (lots of loud top-end clatter as if you are running low on oil)? if not, it could just be a faulty oil pressure sending unit (sensor). when it begins to act up, it is probably throwing the system into limp mode. your engine will not rev over 3k rpm; and it will be very slow...

yea it does a slow dragging like its trying to cutt off...as well as the rpms going from below 10 - 2.5/3 and then will slowly rev back down....its eatin my gas up but the lights freaking me out the most...and today there was no lights and no reving....im leaning more toward a sensor...is that expensive?

what about the engine sound? i'm assuming you've heard how an engine sounds when it is very low on oil. did you experience this at all with your jetta?

also, what year/trim is your jetta?

To me, it almost sounds like failing bearings in the oil pump (causing the engine to bog)

Delaying repair with something like this will almost certainly cause more damage and more $$$ than if you just took it in to get looked at.

Ignoring a failing oil pump = new engine.

This is like saying, ohhh, I get light headed and dizzy some times when I stand up. Go ask an online forum and question their responses when one is a doctor telling you to go to the ER. (Nitroscope8 is a VW tech). Then you have a heart attack.

My parents had a car once, oil light flashed, they checked the oil and it was ok. They kept driving it, oil pump died and it blew their engine up.

You are looking at ignoring a possible several hundred dollar repair and may end up causing a several thousand dollar repair.

the engine has a slight tick bt its always had that....its not low on oil and i even added oil...its 06 jetta 2.0t went out again tonight and and no issues with the light on..or rmps reving up again....i dunno ... the cars playing tricks on me or what

heres the answer...very simple...GET IT LOOKED AT...or later on down the road we will see a post about how your engine is toast and how you cant afford a new one..and we will all say...I TOLD YOU SO...SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN IT LOOKED AT EARLIER

^^ definitely. even if it is running fine now, the dealership can see the information that is stored in the ecu to allow them to see what happened when the vehicle was acting up...

Start the engine and let it idle. Remove the oil cap> is it really hard to remove or did it come off easily? Ignore the crappy idle after it's removed....... Report back.
