    Breakers Yard or recondition

    Blew a 2006 1.4 Golf engine.Sourced engines,but none are exact serial number match.
    mine BCA, Closest BUD.Will this work properly? or should I go for engine rebuild?

    It's always a safe bet to get the same coded engine. I don't know enough to tell you what is different on that particular engine so unless a pro says otherwise I would have yours rebuilt.

    Check the dealership too. VW will, on occasion, discount engines and they come quite complete.

    Thanks nitroscope8,
    getting differing advice from sellers of engines and my mechanic,he believes that proper coded engine imperative for flawless installation,
    whereas,breakers believe install engine,then get it reprogramme at VW dealership.Keep you posted,early days yet!
