Looking at a caddy with a 1987 jetta 1.6 turbo diesel in it. Problem is when you drive it, it goes up to rpm then shifts fine but the rpm's don't drop immediately until you let out the clutch in the next gear. Could this be related to injection pump? Engine was rebuilt 12,000 miles ago, new turbo and oil lines, new throttle cable. Thanks
Just noticed your thread, although it is a year old. Regarding high shifting RPM: my rebuilt pump behaved the same way until I turned the idle down - it was too high from the rebuilder.
