I have an 08 2.5 motor with 83,000 miles. I have an issue with the engine staying at about 3,200 rpm when shifting. Step on the clutch and it stays reved. Does not go higher or lower, stays the same until i lift off the clutch after I've shifted. I also have a bad misfire going on. I've done injector cleaner, plugs and ignition coils. Still have the same issue. Any ideas?
try coil packs?

Rhett re read his post....
Try a throttle body adaption or your clutch switch is on its way out...hard times starting the car at all? Know anyone with a rosstech vagcom?

changed the coil packs. Starts normal. I have a vagcom and a tech for a friend and he is stumped. the misfire shows up random, not a specific cylinder. It really has me pissed off to the point of selling the car.
Tech friend is a VW tech?
Run an autoscan, remove your vin, then post it.

unless im reading wrong, i thought clutch in, car stays at rpms and dont drop at all?
is that right?

Correct. Clutch in, rpm's hang right there for about 3-4 seconds. The misfire is not a specific cylinder and already changed out coil packs, plugs every 40,000, BG 44k, even started using different gas. Nothing has changed other than it runs smoother between the misfires. We've run it through vagcom and nothing shows up other than the misfires. I'm assuming the two problems are related but not sure. Just can't figure out if a vacuum leak possibly and the computer is compensating for it causing the misfire??? Got me totally frustrated. The dealership won't give me a straight answer once I tell them I have vagcom.
I've had that happen too on several occasions where the rev hang was more noticeable Than usual and I got a cel. Vagcom indicated cylinder misfire as well. The cel would clear after shutting the engine off, but would reappear when the revs would hang again at another time. After several occurrences, I did a throttle body adaptation and the problem hasn't occurred since. Ultimately, I plan on getting the C2 ecu flash which removes the rev hang altogether.
