No Power 05 Golf TDI

I was driving yesterday put accelerator to the floor to pass and heard a pop, sounded like a backfire, then basically lost power and saw smoke coming from under the hood. Smells like oil. Trans seems fine but engine also blows some black smoke when accelerating now. Could turbo be out, smoke under the hood is not excessive but noticeable. Ideas??

the turbo blowing would cause the loss in power and possbily the black smoke i think a visit to the dealer would be good.

Thanks I have it scheduled in to have a look. I suspected that the turbo is bad, not looking forward to that bill
