I have a 2006 Jetta "defective bulb" warning light remains illuminated when all bulbs are working, what does it indicate?
i already tried ddouble checking all bulbs and there was one that i replace but still has the warning light on??
Help!![]()
which one did you replace? did you check all of your brake lights and night-running tail lights? did you test your high-beams to make sure both sides are working?
welcome to the VWOC and good luck...

Rest assured, if that light is on, one of your exterior lights is out. Double check it all... city lights, license plate lights (they get overlooked a lot), high beams, etc. Left inner brake light likes to go out a lot too.

As leOn said, check all the lights. It could be one you don't think about. Check license plate bulbs, brake lights, third brake light, back-up lights, city lights, head lights, tail lights, side markers, turn signals. Make sure all your fuses are intact as well.
Edit: my response took a while to post since my phone service is crappy at times. Sorry for the repeated info.

I will check again thanks! i changed the lower yellow left light on the bump, but i just another vw on the street and i realize that mine just have both outer brake lights on so im missing the inner brake lights.. i will check again..
Thanks!!![]()
The outer tailight will tend to burn out because it serves three functions. Regular tailight, brake light, and turn signal. Don't be surprised if the other side burns out shortly, it did for me and I think others have said the same thing.

I took my Jetta to the mechanic to be looked over, had a back and headlight bulb replaced however the indicator was still on in the dash. It turned out being one of the orange lights on the side behind the headlights. Check those and all other exterior lights including signals on side mirrors.
^^ that's good advice...
you were driving around with three bulbs that were out?
also, welcome to the VWOC...

Not really 3. The headlight was dead but the sidelights are new to me because they weren't on my previous car. I though maybe it was a wiring problem since the obvious issue was solved...luckily it was simple & cheap to fix!!
Thank you for the welcome :-) I'm sure this will become a favourite site.
