I need to change the 4 speed tranny fluid due to the fact the inspection plug was missing when I got the car. I can see inside it and I don't see any fluid. Not sure if I should or not and I haven't looked over the manual yet.
I know the book may say one thing on fluid type but what are you guys using? I was thinking of going with a synthetic blend all around...

Plain old gear oil, 80w90, sae80, gl4. You talking about the filler plug missing or the timing plug? :P
Do not confuse the timing hole for the fill hole. The timing hole on the top of the transmission is to set timing and is directly above the clutch. www.germanautoparts.com has the timing hole cover.
The transmission fill plug is a 17mm set screw on the passenger side of the differential.
