2008 Jetta Manual Trasmission fluid

hey all - which fluid should I be using for a 2008 Jetta, 2.5l Manual Transmission?

Just bought one with 45,000 miles on it, and looking to do a drain and fill. I've searched but couldn't find anything definitive. I've seen some boards recommending 75-90, others recommending 75-80, etc.

Some people also say the fluid is good for the life of the vehicle too? Find that surprising.

Any help would be appreciated!

Use OEM fluid and you can't go wrong. The trans doesn't take any old gear oil but there are options. I explain some of your options better in that post.
