I am removing the trailer hitch. Does VW or an after market company make a cover to cover the hole in the bumper?
to the forum Johnny U. May I ask why you are removing the hitch? You may regret this down the road when it comes to moving something. Even if you don't own a trailer now, you can always rent one if needed. Also, many people use the hitch to transport their bicyles. Sorry, I just feel I have to throw out a couple of reasons for keeping it.
Cheers!

Thanks for the advice. This is not my car it is my wife's car and it came with the hitch because it was the only Tiguan SEL 4 motion White Gold w/black interior available. She does not want it. I was just wondering if their was a bumper cover availablew to close up the hole. Besides it's a bolt on hitch so if in the event we (or she needed it I can always reinstall it.
Would be nice to find a removable cover which I suspect isn't out there.

Hi Johnny U and welcome. In answer to your question about a blanking plate, because the hole made is unique to each towbar/wiring combination, you won't be able to get a standard blank to fill it up again. Add to that, that if you remove the towbar completely, you should really replace it with a crossmember that fills the gap between the chassis rails. This would have been in place before the towbar was fitted. Did you buy it from a dealer or from the previous owner. Either way, it may be worth contacting them to see if they still have it.

On my second Tiguan, 2013, TDi, Night Blue, Park Assist 2, RCD510, Bluetooth, auto wipers and lights, fogs, tow pack.
I had an 09 Tiguan and installed a VW OEM hitch kit with removable hitch connector without issue, ONLY problem was that the wiring harness would not operate the stop brake lights on the trailer, only the running and turn signals worked - never could get it fixed and caused me much worry driving on the road without the brake lights working on the trailer since the boat blocked the Tigans tail lights. All the trailer lights worked fine connected to a Chrysler minivan, it must be something to do with the wiring setup from Europe, thats where the hitch-wire harness was made.

VW sells rear diffusers with a cover for the towbar hole.
