OK I am very new to sport tuning I will admit that. So My fisrt question is What is the difference between a chip and a flash? I have a 2011 Jetta with the 2.5 and I am also wandering how much of a differnece one of these would make for my car and if anyone has a recomendation for who makes the best product and where I could find it. Thanks for your time!

Pretty much the same thing. They used to be called chips because on older models, They were actually soldering a chip to the ecu. Now they just plug into the car and flash it with a new program from a computer.
There are the "eBay" chips and the like that promise power by just plugging in a chip to the car's computer... but it's widely known those are worthless and do nothing to increase power. It's a huge scam.
As far as I know, the 2011 Jetta doesn't have a flash available. Something about the new ecu's VW are putting out is hard for tuners to crack. If anyone has one, it's probably either united motorsports or unitronic.
Others here are much more knowledgeable on the new flashes, so hopefully one of them will chime in

NM.... posted 2.0T stuff.

As mentioned, on the past it was an actuak chip, nowadays its just a sw reflash...
For the 2.5 a sw upgrade will not yield 50hp and make your car FAST, but it will nonetheless chabge the car drastically for thr better.
I have unitronic ib my car, and i love it...
The changes are mostly no rev hang, better throttle response, higher rev limit, smooth and better power delivery, among others...
If you as me, i'd say vo with unitronic, they are amazing
