Don't want to risk only having one key. Do I have to go to dealer for a replacement CC Key? How much are the keys generally? I am almost afraid to ask.
you have to get them cut/coded at the dealership. they are a little pricey if i'm not mistaken > $200, but don't quote me on that
welcome to the VWOC and good luck...

Must be ordered by VIN and then programed to your car by teh dealer only. It's expensive.

There are a few places that are VW certified to replace the keyfobs. I am sure if you call VW directly they can give you a list of dealers and non-dealers who can provide the service. I also know that some folks on eBay provide the fobs and the service, too. I know I saved this somewhere a few months ago because I was concerned about this potential cost as well.

If you need the plastic emergency key, it's VW only. If you need the remote, it's vw only. The dealer must order it programed to YOUR VIN at the New Jersey warehouse for Volkswagen parts...or whichever warehouse is nearest to you. Once sent to your dealer a Volkswagen ONLY scanner must code the key to your immobilizer using information from Germanys servers.
