1989 mk2 200k miles for $1,500 buy or pass?

16v according to previous owner rebuilt at around 100k
Ac compressor went out
Rack and pinion leaks
Passed smog and registered until next year
Synthetic oil

How reliable would this car be?
How much money would I be putting into it?
How much more life could I expect from it?
What else should I ask before I go check it out?

16v are rare.... that's a good buy if you're willing to keep paying $ for maintenance and stuff.

How much for a new engine would you say? or to rebuild it?

you could get a decent one for like 300-700 bucks....

rebuild....back to stock probly looking around same cost, more towards the 700 range.
