I was hoping someone could offer me some information. I have a 1999 VW Jetta GLS with a 2000 Body.
Over the weekend, my cousin was replacing my fuel filter. However, he accidently broke the clips that hold lines on I guess. I am just relaying how I understood it, clearly I do not have much knowledge about this and I am hoping to get some helpful answers.
We thought we would be able to just pick up the clips at the dealer on Monday when they opened since this happened on Sunday. However, the deal insists that the clips cannot be replaced and that I would need to purchase the Fuel lines which run about 184.00 (there are 2 different ones, not sure). I was wondering if this is true? Has anyone had this issue before? Has anyone found a way around it?
Unfortunately, I have no car right now and I am hoping to find a cheaper way to fix this if I can.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer me!

dang Im in the middle of this now=/ I was reading and "our" clips press in on connectors! People think they have to rip them out to take fuel filter off, NO you don't you just press in on top of little clip with screwdriver or so..
I took my car to my wife's co-workers house cause he said he knew how to do filter for me. I take over there and he starts popping out clip and can only get one removed. Well I read now he may have cost me up to $2k damage. If clip is broke, they have to fix whole fuel line either from fuel tank or engine lol that requires removing gas tank possibly. I might try small zip-ties for now IDK=/
