Hello I just bought me one 02 gti 1.8 5 speed with 190k miles and I got the car for 2.800 so I decided to swap its engine due to its high mileage and to get some more power so I was wondering if this is posible and wich vr6 engine fits my gti or Wich are the odds thx

for 300 bux you can chip your engine and make MORE power than a vr6 with heavy modifications.

Spend a few hundred on a tune and wait for something to blow....then rebuild yours.

    By far.

Yours is probably not even worn out. You are probably under the assumption it is because of the mileage. Chip it and save your money until you need a new one. VW sells new heads/blocks for a decent price. you can get the turbo rebuilt by several really good turbo rebuilders for cheap and you know everything will be new.

Vr6 engine for your year is 170 hp. Yours is probably 150 and the GLI turbo is 180 hp with the same turbo. Even the 24valve vr6 is just a hair over 200 HP. So if you chip yours you are looking at over 200 HP.

Prolly the cam adjuster seal leaking. Very common actually. It pisses out the driver side at the top of the head and runs down the block.

Dude, go swap a vr in and you will be replacing a heck of a lot more parts than you would with the engine you have already. Or give me 6 grand and ill fix your engine to like-new. If you really want a vr, sell yours and buy one
