    Paint Your Parts!

    Hey guys,

Was thinking about getting a front lip and possibly the rear thunderbunny bumper from ecs. The question is for painting the pieces. Where do I even get shadow blue paint? Do I have to get it from the dealer? Or is there a site where you can pick it up off of?

Get the paint code from the dealer and provide it to whatever shop is going to paint the parts. If they're reputable, they won't cut corners and they'll get the paint from the dealer themselves.

If you know the paint code, on the older mk1's the number was on a Sticker in the trunk, as well as in the engine compartment on a Yellow Sticker affixed to the inner fender.

With that number you can go to www.automotivetouchup.com and order the paint by the quart, or ready-mixed in a rattle can. Be sure that you know if it is a one or two-stage paint, that is a "Clear" coat on it.

I have had good luck with their products:
Here is their rattle can with a clear over it on my door:

That door was Alpine White before I re-sprayed. It took about 2 1/2 cans.

Replace all of them that you can, 99 percent of flakiness will disappear.

A cheap painting option you can do is plasti-dip. Goes on easy and peels off, i sprayed mine with it and its looks great i wipe it with some trim protector/shiner occasionally to keep it shiny. Its a good option if you wanna throw it on right away then worry about getting it colored matched later. One day i plan to get all the black moldings color matched......one day......

Doing the thunder bunny rear is going to kill you... Almost 400 bucks to my door.
if you do decide to get it try...and I said try to order it from your dealer.I paid 280 after tax for mine free shipping. However apparently there aren't anymore left in the u.s. Ecs bought them all up and st making a killing on freight shipping.
