Hi all,
I'm a bit new to this, so hope someone can help me out and direct me to a solution.
I've purchased new 2-DIN Pioneer AVH-P2300DVD for my 2006 Jetta 2.0T
I also purchased a Mk5 Car CD Stereo Facia fitting kit on eBay, and when it arrived it looks like its bit to big for the Pioneer. Any ideas/solutions? I want a nice clean fit and now I'm a bit worried.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
are you sure they sent you the correct item? wouldn't hurt to ask the seller...

Hello le0n,
Yes I asked and the seller said its correct item. He also told me I will need a metal securing cage which is 113mm x 182mm but the Pioneer unit doesn't come with it. I also don't understand what difference it would make since there is about an inch hap all around the facia and audio unit.
Maybe I just go pay BestBuy to install it, though I didn't want to spend another $100+ for installation :/
hmmm, wait for our audio guys to pop in and give you an idea or two. also, i'm not sure best buy is the best place to have the install done...

Ya need a cage. Can get it at a car audio shop. It is bigger than the radio its self. The radio should have came w a trim ring to fill the gap

Thanks, will check it all after work. Is the wiring hard to do, or is it advised I get a professional installer?
Also I read few places about the handbrake bypass, is it worth it or is it better to do it safe to avoid any unconvinced with police? lol
Nah its strait forward. Red to red green to freen blah blah u get it lol. As for the bypass def do it. Nice when u have ppl in the car on long trips for entertainment.

So easy? wow, wasn't aware, saw all these cables and got a bit scared lol. Might see if I can find some detailed youtube video for that heh
Regarding the break bypass, that's what I was thinking as well, plan on some long trips to US, just never knew about that law behind it etc. Would you know where I can find a more detailed description on how to connect the unit. I think Ive seen some ebay cables for bypass, unless its easy to do without that stuff.
Not sure on urs. But mine was just re-pinning the e break wire to a ground. Do some googling on that. But ya install is pretty easy. Color to color connect them w butt connectors or small wire nuts.

Great find, thank you le0n! Definitely some useful info there! Almost the same unit! The stuff with ACC, Antenna, Illumination looks a bit tricky, hope I don't mess it up :/
I ended up finding out I am missing cage with trim, like this:
