I have a 2008 Beetle convertible that is showing wear marks on the outside as well as a couple tiny holes. I looks to me that these line up with the hinges in the folding mechanism.
Would any body know if this repair is under the warranty?

If you are stiill under the factory warranty, then yes. So long as the vehicle was not in any horrific accident then it should be covered.

Thanks,
The first paragraph in the warranty book reads 4 years or 50K miles. So at 37K I should be good.
Hey all, Just found this forum and coincidently this thread about what seems to be the same issue happening to my wife's convertible beetle. Looking for ways to slow this tearing process down a bit and repair if possible. We bought the car from Carmax, they had a trim shop and a VW dealer look at it and won’t cover it, so I am wondering what I can do to repair it.
There are some pics in the link below

Dom:
My wife's triple beige beetle is in the shop right now having the top replaced with less obvious wear marks then your pics. This is a leased vehicle with 37k miles on it and it is being replaced under warranty. The reason they put in the write up was, the wear came from miss alignment and needed be replaced. The finally came in from Germany and it appears that it is not just the fabric they are replacing but the whole top mechanisms and all.
The upside of this is that I'm not even going to drive this home. I'm taking the plate off and returning it the since the lease is up. I was told that it would cost me 1500.00 for me to replace due to excessive wear & tear.
To me the car is kind of stupid, you cant even fit a beach chair in the trunk.
I surprised my wife with a 2012 EOS talk about quick.
