Marc- You bring up a good point, for your use and habits. I am ummm ummm old school, when I talk on the phone, I talk on the phone. When I drive, I drive. I don't mix-up the two, if I did one or the other would suffer.
I probably drive my two boys nuts- I don't listen to radio when I drive (I will turn it on for a passenger's pleasure but the volume is lower than they would prefer). VW's come "off the shelf" with a great package of accessories, etc. I simply don't need or want most of them. Just a personal "thing", I already admitted that I am old in though. Just a side note, I have owned several vehicles in the past that had sun/moon roof. My dealership did jump through hoops to find my wagon that didn't have one, without giving up on somethings I did want.
My wife has a 2010 TDI Sportwagen with automatic and nav and has about 19,000mi. and she has been averaging about 38 combined. I own a 2011 TDI Sportwagen with the 6 spd. manual and I'm doing hiway miles averaging 42 with 4000 mi. total. I'm not crazy about the nav in her car, but, I love the bluetooth in mine. In her car the address book does not work with the nav. as mine does with the 6 disc. changer.
I purchased a gas Sportwagen in 2009 after waiting several months on the TDI's to show up and then found out it would still be a few months down the road before they would be available. I was tired of waiting, so I bought the gas model. It has been a great car. I commute 84 miles a day, so the mileage adds up. I routinely get low 30's and I don't really baby it, just drive normally with a few high speed bursts every now and then. My car now has 73,000+ miles on it and I haven't had a single problem. Not a single one. I have the entry level S model with the cloth seats. I'm 6'4", 250 lbs., and fit very well, the seats are very cofortable and supportive. There isn't a single bit of wear on them so far.
