Hey guys.
I just bought a brand new 2010 Routan in the super sexxy black. I spent an extra $1500 and replaced the light pods with the VW Xenon pods and have a few quick questions. First off, the lights are super bright. Awesome!, 2nd I'm not sure about how they are setup. I do notice that when I do the "Flick to Pass" or put on the High Beams, the more yellow Halogen lights do come on in addition to the Xenons (which don't appear to get brighter at all). Isn't the whole system supposed to be Xenon now? Did my dealer not hook them up right? I also notice a bit of a flicker when the Xenons are on. Help!

They need to be added as an accessory to your vin. The dealer goes onto dealerconnect website and puts your vin in. Then they select the option for xenons and download it to the computer. The same computer now has the file loaded to it. Dealer then starts the Star Mobile program and attaches the star mobile scanner to your Routan. Upload the new vehicle build information so the car now knows what parts it has. After this is done you clear the faults and check operation of the lights.
They probably already did this so that is why they work now. I don't think they have a shutter for the xenon and thats why the halogens come on for high beams. Some xenons have shutter, some do not, and some have bi-xenon. They are just different types used by different manufacturers. The flickering could be normal, a bad bulb, incorect coding, etc.

Beauty thanks mate! My neighbor across the street who happens to be my cousin, who also just so happens to be the parts manager at my local dealership should be able to give me the full scoop. I'll go pick his brain when he gets home tonight. Thanks for the info!
