Hi everyone. I just joined this site and am really excited to get to know and learn from all of you. Now, for my question:
How do you remove the plastic engine cover on a 2008 Rabbit? I've looked all over the net for DIY walk-through and all I can find are guides for 08 GTI and FSI models. HELP!
Thanks russdawg. I had no idea that it was that simple. I think I deserve a huge DUUUUHH for that one.

For anyone who may be reading this thread, BEWARE. It was not mentioned in the above DIY's that you must disconnect the MAF Sensor and Air Sensor (the Air Sensor is found on 06 and 07 models) BEFORE you yank on the corners to pull off the cover. Chad and Russdawg.........thanks regardless. Here's a more thorough DIY thread on the subject: http://volkswagenownersclub.com/vw/s...-plastic-cover

kinda well, not to be a douche, but really sorta self explanitory. you always look at what is attached to what you're going to pull off. if you didn't notice the, air filter is in the cover, so logic would dictate that at some point, the MAF and air inlet tubing would have to connect to it. IDK, was common sense for me.
Yeah, yeah. You're not a douche for mentioning it......It is common sense when you think about it. We all have our deedeedee moments.
the first time i did it, i screwed the maf connector, cuz i was ham fisted and not paying close enough attention to how it releases. was basically a "o wow, this sucker has got some serious suction goin on" and came off hard but slowly.... yeah.... that was the catch pulling itself away from the connector. so now theres a ziptie holding it on. <facepalms>
Nah, didn't eff up anything.......thank god. I'll be sure to pick up some zip ties before I perform any more DIY's, though. LOL
lolz, i guess i must be a very respectable diy mechanic then, theres about 6 more trimmed and hidden zipties hiding the wiring for my HID's. :-P
