I have had my new GTI MK6 for 3 weeks and like it (had Volvo 30 before it). But am having a problem with the rear window washer leaking on the back glass...frequently. Has anyone had this problem...goes to dealer on 7/12 for a fix, I hope. Also planning on taking off the 18" Detroits (they just look weird). The manual says use 91 octane fuel, is this mandatory?

91 octane is required.
I use only 98 octane fule and some time the 100 octani Vpower Shell.

yea europe uses the RON system (research octane number), versus us here in the state, we use AKI method (Anti-knock index). Its just a different way the companies measure fuel burn resistance. So super for Europe would be like 98 RON which translates to 93-94 Octane.
yes, i recently bought my 2010 GTI and i have the same problem...i guess this is a manufacturers defect. i had mine for 2 weeks(just hit 1500 miles)

There is a TSB for the washer fluid leak. A check valve is to be installed.

On the rear window thing...took it to the dealer, they ordered a part (Ckeck Valve?) and went back later and they installed it. Still wees down the back window as before, so I put painters tape over it and now fixed!!!! The rest of the car I really like, just waiting for it to cool down so I can get on the track.
So that's where those stains are coming from. I thought maybe it was rain or carwash water dripping from the spoiler? I didn't know the car even had a rear window washer?

turn key on and press washer/wiper stalk FORWARD. ya, that checkvalve seems to be hit or miss with some people apparently.

this valve it's not a one way valve? maybe they installed it backwards? or is a pressure valve? maybe they need to install two of them? just some thoughts, not an expert

It's called a non return valve. I think it works similar to a diode adn isn't strictly a one way valve...or else it would not work at all lol.

It was hit or miss with the 2010's .I can't say for sure if the problem has a permanent fix for production but not too many people are coming in complaining about it.
