Anyone have problems with the brakes warping and causing a pulsation when braking? Have you had it corrected? Also, have you tried to remedy the problem yourself?

yeah i did click that.... how do i resolve this problem? my dealer told me it was rust spots... i'm getting annoyed now

The requirements for resolving this are completely different between Routan and All other models. That's why I'm posting this to see how others had this resolved![]()

Yes, I had it from day 1. My first mini-van; I didn't know any better- drove from TX to FL and back before getting fixed. Dealer replaced brakes under warranty.

Nice, total replacement. Our jeep had the same issue. I replaced the rotors with good quality aftermarket and never had a problem again.

Isn't the Routan basically a Chrysler Town and Country? Maybe they can have more answers.

They use the same brakes. They are too small for the vehicle and they are more front brake bias than a "vw." So, they overheat fast and warp. If you look at the caliper design, it looks like it can handle much larger brake pads than what it has currently. Therefore much larger rotors could be used.

We have had the front rotors replaced twice and the back rotors on order Good luck. I love our routan But like the comercail says the soul of a V.W. My Rabbit also has the soul of a vw but also has all vw parts LOL
I had this problem on my Passat. After a few years of trying to fix it I found the perfect solution........I traded it in on a new GTI. Good luck!!
had same problem with my 2009 routan. dealer replaced all brakes (under warranty). has less than 6,000 miles. pathetic.
Linda here again. All brakes and rotors have been replaced again at 18,000 miles - after our second trip to FL. Will see how long these last. I'm beginning to think that the after market parts may be a better idea. Actually, while in FL at a convention, I got to drive the new Honda minivan. Verrrrry nice.....wish I could afford it!
Our 2009 Routan has been in 4 times for the same brake problem. We had a "noise" which went away when the brakes were applied. At first we were told it was just some dirt. The second time we were told that everything speced out OK and no problem. The third time the right rear caliper locked up by the time we got to the dealership.
After we picked it up there was no noise until we got home and than it started again. I called and told them I refused to drive it back to the dealer and they needed to make arrangements to pick it up which they did. The fourth time may have done the trick because they found a tsb which required a changing of the front rotors and pads. We did experience a little "squeeling" when we first applied the brakes but it has since gone away.
Most of the postings that I have read on other sites seem to be directly related to inferior rotors from China. The problem was solved by upgrading to a better rotor. As VW is in bed big time with the Chinese and Chrysler, I don't see the problem going away time real soon.
We like our Routan and I am a 32 veteran with VWoA but I will not keep playing this game with the dealer. We are very seriously looking at trading away our problem.

VW ONLY is "in bed" with Chrysler because of the van. It's much cheaper for "the people" to buy a VW van this way than it would be if VW actually made it. So in doing this deal with Chrysler, VW adopted all their problems. The 2009's have upwards of 11 recalls already. A new one just came out about the WIN module and stalling while driving.
I'm just so surprised how hot the brakes get after less than a mile of driving. It's almost as if they do not cool enough and just warp.

The good thing is the rotors country of origin is USA not China as I indicated above. The bad thing is I just picked up my Routan again for another brake problem. This time they replaced both rear rotors and pads. One block from home and they started squeaking again. When I picked up the car I cancelled my extended warranty and will be trading in for something else while there is still warranty left.
